About

Hi I'm Rise of the Monkey (aka Simon Edwards), a Graphic Designer & Illustrator based in the North-West of England.

I've been interested in Design & Illustration ever since I was a kid, I just never grew out of it. With a wide range of influences including UK & International artists & designers along with my recent travels throughout Asia & the Rest of the World, I have developed a passion for Print, Illustration & Vinyl Toys.

Background

I studied Graphic Design at Cumbria Institute of the Arts (now Cumbria University) completing a HND & BA (Hons) between 1999-2003. After a couple of years doing a variety of jobs along with some freelance work, I joined Express Gifts Ltd. back in 2005 as a Mac Operator,
after a couple of hard working years I progressed
to the postion Senior Mac Operator taking on greater responsibility for the production of a variety of publications.

Free Time

I love my free time I always try & make the most of it, when you can pull me away from my PS3 that is, you can usually find me out on my mountain bike tearing up the newly established Gisburn Forest trails with the Dbriders crew.

The ultimate stress reliever for me is boxing, there's nothing better than taking out your daily frustrations on the punch bag & working on your core fitness. Training at Fit2XL in Blackburn with Dezzi Higginson a professional boxer fighting under HATTON promotions.

Until recently (due to work commitments) I played football for the Howard Rangers FC a Carlisle City Sunday Football League team who clinched back to back promotions in the 2008/2009 & 2009/2010 seasons, promoting us to the Premiere League for the 2010/2011 season, where we finished in a strong mid table position.
